A new link and some new news
October 28, 2009I posted another breaking news article that I used for one of my article summaries in-class. I thought it tied in really well with my topic, so I went ahead an put it up. Also, I added a link to a trailer for the movie Seven Years in Tibet on Youtube. I haven’t seen the movie myself, but I’ve heard all about it and I hope to rent it one of these days. It’s all about the Austrian explorer, Heinrich Harrer, who became lost in the Himalayas in the 1940s and found himself in Tibet. The movie tells the story of the years he spent there (not completely accurately, but it still gives you a glimpse of life in Tibet) and how has was told he had better leave before the Communist takeover of 1950. I personally think it sounds pretty interesting, but I don’t think my Civilization of Tibet teacher was incredibly bowled over by it.
