YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

November 10, 2009

ALL DONE!!!!!  FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, sorry, had to get that out.  I am just so happy to have actually finished this project.  I feel like I actually learned more than I was expecting to, and I’m glad that I found a topic which really interests me.  I hope that all of the information I’ve provided as accurate and will perhaps spark someone’s interest in learning more about Tibet.  I’m hoping that I too will continue to do more research and help try to make a difference in the world now that it’s no longer required.  Thank you and enjoy!

Almost there…

November 10, 2009

All finished with the breaking news!  Now I just need to get my Guide to Action page put together and life will be good.  I may have to ask my Tibetan Civilization professor to check this out, just to see if I got all the facts right and did an okay job putting it altogether.  It was really cool because today in class, we had a Rinpoche (“a reincarnate of a holy person”) from the Tibetan Cultural Center come and talk to us about Buddhism.  It was really interesting, and he’ll be back to talk during our next three class meetings.  Anyway…. back to the blog!!!

Oh, and for people from our class, I commented on Claire and Austin’s blogs, and outside our class, Sam Ibarra’s blog (all of them on the background pages).

Ughh…

November 10, 2009

I totally fell asleep last night while I was working on this.  I meant to stay up and get more done, but that failed miserably.  Oh well, I guess that just means more fun today, right?  Anywho… I got another breaking news up and I’m about to write out two more now.  Doing the breaking news really isn’t so bad when you don’t try to write a novel about each and every story.  I thought it would be difficult to completely summarize an article and discuss it in less than 2 paragraphs, but really, just a few sentences is enough.  Well, I’m gonna get these two finished fast and then find three more and then I’m DONE!!!!!  …with Breaking News, at least.  haha

Blogroll finished!!!

November 10, 2009

That’s right!  I now have 10 links on my blogroll, which means I actually have one section of my blog totally out of the way.  Now all there is left to worry about is the ongoing posts, breaking news, and guide to action.

….okay, so that still sounds like a lot.  But I am happy to be making progress.  I really don’t think getting it done will be much of a problem, but knowing myself, I strongly hope I won’t cut it to close.  I would rather not let it get to the point where I’m frantically typing news articles in the last half hour.  I suppose we’ll see how that goes…

Completed background & analysis

November 10, 2009

So I finally finished my Background & Analysis page…  I probably spent way more time on it than I should have (time I could have spent on at least one or two more breaking news articles) but I like to think that I did it well.  It was always pounded into my head as a kid that you should give your all in everything you do.  Things don’t have to be perfect, as long as you do your best.  All I want is for this project to be something I’ll be at least semi-proud of.  It would be really upsetting if I looked back at a semester-long assignment like this and thought it was just okay.  So here’s to (trying to) go above and beyond!

OH NOOO!!!!!!!!!

November 10, 2009

I have less than 24 hours to pull this project together!  AHHHH!!!!!!!  Slightly worried, freaking out a little, but it really shouldn’t be all that bad.  I just put up another breaking news article (the one about the IU student in Tibet that made the front page of the IDS) and I’ve already got several more ready to read and write about.  That’s how I’m going to have to do it… read, summarize, read, summarize, read, summarize.  I can get these knocked out quickly if I just buckle down and finish them in one sitting.  Next up though — Background & Analysis.  I’d better get that out of the way before I go any further with the Breaking News.

Breaking news page = existent

November 8, 2009

So I finally figured out how to transfer my breaking news posts to a separate page – happy to be slightly more tech-savvy now.  =)  I also added another link for the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT).  The ICT “promotes human rights and democratic freedoms for the people of Tibet” and helps to keep the world updated on the situation in Tibet.  On their website, they also provide ways for anyone interested in the cause to take action and give donations.

In other news, a friend showed me an article in the Indiana Daily Student the other day about an IU student who traveled to Tibet and was made to leave the country soon after.  Apparently, she witnessed violence there nearly every day, not only toward monks and protestors, but ordinary, innocent-bystander Tibetans.  I will definitely be adding a summary of that story to my Breaking News shortly.
